Remembering a Great Golfer
Carter Parks, the late son of Owen and Linda Parks, was an avid golfer. Carter excelled in both UIL and national amateur events. In the spring of 1982, Carter was a member of the UIL State Boys Championship Team which won “state” that year in Austin. In the summer of 1982, Carter won the club championship.
When Carter’s death occurred in the summer of 1983, it was decided that the club championship trophy, which he had won the previous year, would be given to his parents in loving memory of their son’s talent and accomplishments. Mr. and Mrs. Parks then in turn donated to the golf association another trophy bearing Carter’s name, which to this day is awarded annually at the club championship.
